Slow poach? Ummm I guess that works. Poach is a cooking thing. I think the American thing is Poke though. Refering to a cow poke. Maybe I am wrong though.

Ok Alec, I’ve seen you cut sand paper on your cutter throughout many different videos. Try cutting paper side up to save the blade edge. Right now you’re cutting through the sand and adhesive before the paper, while cutting the paper side first you’ll see extended blade life because you’re cutting through the paper and adhesive before the grit which will separate away from the blade.

Ferric chloride.. ferric Fe3+ Cl- so FeCl3 Nope not an acid.. Doesn't have any hydrogen.. Which is what you need to be able to give away to be considered an acid.. HCl, hydrogen go bye bye it be acid!

Alec... you know you can buy rolls of emery cloth to do exactly what you're doing with the sand paper? It's textile backed not paper backed. 3M sells it (as do many others). 1" x 20 yards 320 grit is $22 for instance...

Alec be careful with those chemicals. It's not all that innocent. It's all on the floor and you have it on your arms. After working already 12 years with chemicals I saw to many accidents. I did it to when I started working. Handled chemicals with nitril gloves and my sleeves up till I ended up at the ER with my under arms burned 2nd degree. It happens faster then you think and sleeves or long gloves are not that hard to wear. I know you have safety as a high standard with those respirators and emergency kits but just put in a safety goggle and decent chemical handling stuff. Keep up with the great video's.

I can tell your new buisness is going well Alec, you seems to be a lot less stressed. (Or its something else but I notice something)

Really happy for you, I've bin watching your video's since the time Joey was with you (btw, would love to see him visiting you someday). You've grown so much. So much respect for you.

Keep it up Alec. I am really enjoying your video's, and it inspired me to convert my little garage into a woodwork shop. I've bin thinking about forging as well but that hobby would be to loud here. I'm living in a pretty dense neighbourhood. And I don't want to use my newly forced knives to fight off the neighbour.

Thank you, and Will, for the amazing, inspiring video's.

Alec, you were correct to call ferric chloride an acid. It's called a Lewis acid, which are different than Bronsted acids like muriatic acid.

Hello Alec, great project! It’s turning out beautiful! One thing I would recommend is that you reverse the order of your sandpaper cabinet drawers. If any grit that might fall off the sandpaper as you remove it from the cabinet drawer is not contaminating the drawers below with a coarser grit. great video! Keep up the good work!

What Happened was you heated up and since it's stainless it cooled and air hardened the stainless has to be hard to etch that's why all the stainless Damascus bolsters, pocket clips, and back spacers that I use on folders have to be heat treated to get a proper etch 👍🏻

As always, I am really looking forward to seeing the finished product. For glueing the handles, may I suggest using a flavor injector (giant syringe with giant needles). I squeeze my glue directly inside the cylinder, mix it well with a stick, then screw on the needle and piston and squeeze the glue in the cavity. That allows me to start depositing the glue from the back of the cavity up to the top so no air bubble is formed.

love the duck tape trick Alec! In bench jewelry world, we call that "thrumming" or using a "thrumm". In my case, it's usually thick cotton string with a polishing compound. You can put a small thrumm in a jeweler's saw frame or as an attached string on the bench that you'd pull tight and run the peice to be polished back and forth against the tight string. Congrats on all the success!
