1Axxonn1 No. Workshop safety 101; never wear gloves (besides latex) when using a belt grinder or anything with an exposed belt. It is a major snag hazard. A slight belt burn is better than a mangled hand.

hey alec, i doubt youll see this but just an FYI when youre using a laythe, if your chips or "strings" of metal are coming out blue or the straw collor (like the colors of tempered steel) youre RPM is too high, and you run through cutting tools way faster.

jut wanting to help!

Couldn't you just melt the bronze and recast it?? Then you could just use the bronze again?

Why is nobody using coolant anymore?
When i was an apprentice years back, the first thing about machining i learned was: "Never cut steel on a mill or a lathe or drill it without coolant!". And it´s true. It makes the tools hold their edge much longer and gives a much nicer surface finish. I bet you could have drilled the damascus steel on the lathe like butter with the HSS drills, if you only had used coolant.

Alec. I think I've got a challenge for you. Im a sheetrock finisher and I run into one problem all the time. I need a 16 inch wall knife that doesn't flex out of shape when I use it. It's hard to find a good knife that doesn't over flex
