inpired me to a potential solution for a huge problem I have for years now constantly. The "i dont have enough time.." problem.
Your video made me connect the thought that whenever I see someone with low money, the ONE thing i would tell him if i only could tell him one thing would be to track his money. Where does it come from and where does it go to?
It works wonders for the financial part of my life for years already. But dude has it taken me much time to realize that tracking my time would be the solution for the "dont have time for personal stuff or people" problem.
Maybe it has taken me so long, because about 4 years ago i already started tracking my time a few times. it never lasted long.
long story short: the solution would be to limit myself.
As ironic as it sounds, limiting something can have huge positive impact on free-ing yourself.
I for example back then tracked "time". So I just tracked whenever i thought about it. ...which pretty quickly became a huge burden in my day to day life. so i began forgetting. i began procrastinating on it. and sooner or later i would just "track" out of memory when a few days passed without tracking anything.
So the problem was, i hadnt limited the block of time i would track.
I tracked "time". But that meant, i tracked it whenever and for anything. for every 2 minutes. it took me more words as i had space on the paper to track what i did. so that made my trackings pretty much a mess and i wouldnt learn anything from that.
The solution was to track in 30minutes blocks. As you said in 2:38 .
That, my friend, was the solution for me.
And i thank you very much for that.

Am tracking my time now consistently for about 4 weeks. It works.
And it takes so much pressure off of me.
previously i was always thinking that i am giving 110% already and that doing one more thing during my day would just make my brain explode.
As i am looking on the truth i am spending my time on now, i am realizing more and more how much more i could give.
Or, how much i can appreciate how my days actually look like if i just dont change them.

Either way, this is taking so much stress out of my life as nothing else could. Distractions, games, partys, meeting friends, watching a series, youtube, social media, even 3 weeks vacation...you name it.
There is nothing that came close to this. Anything else except tracking time would now just seem as a try to distract myself from the problem. while tracking time (including the limit to 30minute blocks!) feels like the actual solution to this problem of always feeling the need to needing to do more.

Hi Matt, I love planning and making my life organised. However, I find myself always living in the planned tomorrow rather than the present. I don't want to stop planning because then I feel like I would lose control and be less productive, as you mention in your video. I also make lots of checklists, but how do you stop your life becoming just getting through a checklist? How do you find the balance between planning and living?

I think you go to the 3 dots in the top right corner (no not the top left ones built into most mac apps, im talking about the ones in google chrome itself) and then in the menu there is a fullscreen button next to the zoom buttons.
