For android users, their is a function known as "Bedtime Mode", it grayscales your screen and you can also set time duration rule for it along with automatic DND.

There is a social media restriction mode on “settings” for iPhones (you can also set a password, and it helps if u make the password long, send it to a accountability partner, then delete it on your own end so you can’t override the time limits)

Idk if this would help. But maybe get a basket for ur phone and leave it in one room. And you can only put your phone in the basket, so if you want to go get ur phones youll have to get up. If that doesnt work then just put your phone as far away from you in the room your in, less tempting.

Set a rule about how long you’ll wait until going on a device. Wake up in the morning and set how long you’ll wait. Now slowly increase day to day or week by week.

I find it helpful to make sure I get a certain amount of studying/work done before I can use social media. So I'll be like after I finish this hour of studying I'll take a 5 min break and check my phone. Another thing is to not check your phone first thing in the morning. Get up, take a shower, have breakfast, and then check your phone for the first time. This sets a more productive tone for the rest of the day

3️⃣ Turn ur phone to B&W- this reduces the power ur device has on u

Hi Matt. During these hard times, with broken heart and broken bank account, it was so healthy take distance from social media. I think that is a really impactful first step and also, reorganize the apps that we'll really need in our screen. I deleted Facebook and Instagram, and i keep my work out playlist and blocknote for my writing, to do list and groceries list to shop, because as visual beings, our eyes can focus on what we stand as our priorities to see in our devices. This was a really great video. Cheers from Chile!

Found this video just now but it's really helpful :) me and my husband ,we also leave the phone in the living room every night before sleep ,and we put our phones down at Saturday night and pick it up again on the Monday morning, doesn't mean that we don't watch a movie or a video on Sunday :) it's very refreshing and freeing not to worry about "outside world " for a day and just focus on us and our family :)

All very good points. I try to manage but still have days where my screen time is way higher than I wanted it to be. Unconscious phone and social media time is a big reason why I started my podcast about how to intentionally spend your time, its the most valuable asset we have.

I think one useful method is to only use social media on laptop. No app on the phone. Phone is only for making calls, navigating while driving and listening to music for me.

@Matt D'Avella - Your videos are inspiring me. You have given very good list to reduce screen time. I wanted to add what I am following in my personal life.Last one year I am using a basic mobile for making and recieving calls. That helps me to avoid smart phone screen whenever I don't want to use. At the sametime I can use my basic phone for emergency calls.
